Unfair state exams for BUS

The Bulgarian state exam for graduating AUBGers studying Business Administration (BUS) may be unfair to many students this academic year, said SG senator Filip Taseski. Taseski added Chair of the BUS department Julio Pontes said he would make the exam comprehensive and would include questions from courses like Operations Management and other that not all students take. Senior BUS majors from SG (President Vasile Valcov, Chair Daniyar Abenov, Senator Giorgi Mariamidze, and Taseski) will talk to Pontes about the issue.

MUN Conference cuts funding

AUBG Model United Nations (MUN) Club announced it will have 40 participants instead of the planned 100 at the international BLIMUN Conference to be held March 19-22. The money it will get from SG was reduced from almost 1,800 to about 800 levas, said SG Treasurer Leorand Ndoni.. The final amount of funding for the conference will be announced on the next SG meeting, he added. Valcov said the extra money will be "up for grabs again."

AURA's birthday supported by SG

SG unanimously granted 400 leva for the purchase of 200 tickets to radio AURA's Birthday Party on March 13. This year's party will have an environmental theme, said AURA representative Paulina Tsolova. This year, students will get presents like organic cotton T-shirts and other products from the event's sponsors. SG will have to make sure there is no favoritism and be very strict with procedures, said professor Bobby Phillips ,advisor to the SG. SG should let AUBGers know about ticket distribution ahead of time, said Dean of Students Lydia Krise. "Otherwise you [will] get really angry students," she added. Most likely, students will be able to get the tickets on March 12 from "afternoon till evening," Valcov said.

AUBG e-mail problems

The Office of Communications and Computing (OCC) is aware of the problems with the updated AUBG e-mail system, Valcov said. SG has been in touch with the head of OCC Lachezar Filtchev. The system has a new server and a new antivirus provider, and there was an unforeseen mistake with the antivirus software. Valcov and SG Vice President Vaska Dimitrova, disapproved of SG complaining to Filtchev. "We can go and talk, but I don't think they will reverse the action [switching back to the previous software version]," Dimitrova said. Discussions with OCC will not lead to new actions because OCC have already detected the problems and are trying to solve them, Valcov said. Still, senators Mirian Jugheli, Taseski and Mariamidze will discuss e-mail problems with Filtchev.
